News & Notes
Green Cottages Ribbon Cutting, Friday April 24th, 4:00pm
April 15, 2009
You are cordially invited to join us for light refreshments at the Green Cottages Ribbon Cutting in celebration of the first home of this project being completed. With remarks from Mayor Frank Jackson and other community leaders, this will be a great opportunity to hear all the Green Cottages represent for the city of Cleveland. Even better than hearing the benefits of this house, this will be a chance to see first hand what eco-friendly living in the city looks like. Builders and design team experts will be on hand to answer any questions you have about the features of this home.
The Green Cottages are one of the first LEED for Homes projects in Ohio, and the first affordable single family project to achieve LEED for Homes certification in Northeast Ohio. LEED is a certification process of the U.S. Green Building Council, which promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. Our preliminary LEED for Homes rating indicates the house will qualify at the LEED Gold standard, with a possibility of Platinum.
It will also achieve Energy Start rating for the energy efficiency, and the project exceeds the city of Cleveland's 2009 green housing construction standards and the Enterprise Green Communities standards. More importantly, this house will be a long-term asset for the community and provide an energy-efficient, accessible, durable, healthy home for many decades to come.
So please, come out and celebrate this memorable event with us! Light appetizers will be served.
